OUR STORY

Graze San Diego began as a grassroots San Diego community exploring the benefits to the land and community of grazing sheep and goats in 2018, focusing on prescribed grazing as an eco-friendly fire fuel reduction & vegetation management tool.

Vegetation management in San Diego has been limited three options, "mow land, burn land or poison land"  all three methods fight against nature, prescribed grazing works with nature.  We are not advocating that prescribed grazing be the only vegetation management tool, but be the preferred method where appropriate.

Inspired by a recognized empowered collection of leaders, with the goal of creating community supported grazing programs throughout the state of California—engaging with more and more people, adding more and more supporters, and amplifying more and more voices, at the local, county and state levels.

Graze San Diego leads the campaign to integrate grazing into our communities long term land management strategies.  We challenge the notion that the way things are is the way things should always be, and are proud to be a force for positive transformation.
